The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has approved Basic Life Support Course (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Course organized by Nursingworld Nigeria For award of credit units for License Renewal
This was sequel to a successful inspection of the New Nursingworld ‘state of the art’ training facility located in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria.
The BLS and ACLS courses got 1 and 2 credit units approval respectively from the Council with effect from July 2018

With this development, Nurses can kill two birds with one stone by getting 3 points for renewal of their license and also acquire industry certification requirement in BLS/ACLS which is a minimum standard to practice in multinational companies, oil and gas industry, NGOs, HMOs and Hospitals operating on international best practices.
Speaking on this feat, the training coordinator Nrs Scholastica Nwankwo confirmed that Nursingworld PH office would run both the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI) Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support Courses for 4 days at a subsidized fee of N50,000 as against N25,000 and N65,000 respectively, This she said was a Management level decision taken at Nursingworld to make the course more affordable and ensure nurses get international certification in BLS and ACLS. She however noted that the AHA BLS/ACLS would remain at N100,000 for both.
Speaking on the difference between the AHA BLS/ACLS and the ASHI BLS/ACLS, Nene noted that while the AHA was more popular, the ASHI was a cheaper alternative as both contained the same course modules and conformed to the 2015 AHA Guideline update for CPR and ECC, providing healthcare professionals the opportunity to enhance and refine their knowledge and gain hands-on skill proficiency in emergency cardiovascular care
She continued ‘Currently we have clients who have partaken in either the ASHI and AHA BLS/ACLS courses working at Chevron, TOTAL, LNG and both certifications are accepted at these multinational companies. It’s a matter of preference and choice and I think it’s a great opportunity for Nurses to get these certifications for license renewal and also better job prospects in addition to the subsidized fees.
Now nurses can now get 3CU from the Nursing and Midwifery Council Mandatory MCPDP in addition to 3CU from the Nursingworld BLS/ACLS to make up the required 6CU to renew thier license
